AESC's lithium-ion batteries (cells) for both EV and HEV applications feature a structure in which cathodes and anodes are alternately stacked with a separator sandwiched between and then sealed with a laminate film.
The batteries are able to achieve a large capacity even while having an extremely compact shape.
In addition, because of the simple structure, the batteries are lightweight and maintain a competitive advantage from a cost perspective as well.

A laminated cell strucutre has good heat dissipation characteristics as compared with cylindrical cells.

Because of a large surface area, the laminated cell dissipates heat more efficiently, and increace in the temperature of whole cell due to charging and discharging can be kept low.
Therefore, vehicles to which AESC batteris are installed can simplify the thermal countermeasure of the batteries.
